  • Pink form, the registration application
    Send it to us
It must bear the roadworthiness-test stamp, otherwise the application is refused. Valid for two months.
Provided by: Seller or roadworthiness centre
    Before the application
    Paper
  • Certificate of conformity (COC)
Used to complete the form: chassis number and technical data. We do not need a copy.
    Provided by: Seller
    At the sale
    Paper
  • Registered keeper's identity card
Useful to copy your details without error, but not essential.
    Provided by: You
    For the application
    Copy
  • Car-Pass
    Compulsory. A second-hand sale without a Car-Pass is irregular.

    Paper
  • Roadworthiness report for resale
If it is too old, it is up to the seller to redo it.
    Provided by: Roadworthiness test

  • Registration certificate, your part
Make sure you receive the right part.
    Provided by: Seller
    At the sale
Paper, in two parts since 2019
  • Insurance sticker
    Provided by Cinassur
Without it the DIV will not register the vehicle. We affix it, you have nothing to provide.

    After your insurance review
    Affixed to the form

The documents marked “send it to us” are the ones we genuinely need to build your file. The rest stay with you: we do not ask for needless copies.

To check before you pay

The three papers that block everything

  • The roadworthiness-test stamp

On the pink form, for a used vehicle. Without it the application is refused: check it before you pay for the vehicle.

  • The Car-Pass

Compulsory for every second-hand sale in Belgium. Without it you have no guarantee on the mileage.

  • The insurance sticker

It is the paper that triggers registration. It comes after the review, so the insurance is settled before the plate.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about the documents

  • Do I have to send you all these documents?

No. Only the ones marked “send it to us” are useful to us: the pink form and, if you want comprehensive cover, the purchase invoice. The rest stays with you.

  • How long is the pink form valid?

Two months from the roadworthiness test. Check the date in box X13 before starting the process.

  • What if the seller no longer has their registration certificate?

They must hand you either their part of the certificate or a police statement. If they have neither, ask them to sort it out with the police before the sale.

  • Where can I find the detail of each box on the form?

In our interactive guide, box by box:

A complete file

Send it once, and we will not chase you.

Send the marked papers and the driver details: we start the review, validate the cover and affix the sticker. All that is left is your trip to the DIV.
