What workplace accident insurance covers

Workplace accident insurance protects your workers during work and on the commute. The premium is based on the gross payroll, capped per worker (€58,096.10 in 2026), with a rate that depends on the activity and staff category.

  • Medical costs — care, hospitalisation, rehabilitation linked to the accident.
  • Incapacity for work — benefits for temporary or permanent absence.
  • Commute — the home ↔ workplace journey is included.
  • Death — capital and annuity for beneficiaries.
  • Annual adjustment — the premium adjusts to your actual salaries each year.
Going further — the options

Two limits of the law, two options to close them

How far? — the amounts

Excess cover, for higher salaries

Statutory cover only compensates income up to the legal ceiling (€58,096.10/year in 2026). Above that, the salary is not covered — unless you add the option.

Statutory
Excess cover

Excess cover

Covers the part of pay above the legal ceiling: essential as soon as a salary exceeds the ceiling, to avoid a compensation gap in a serious accident.

+ Guaranteed salary: a complementary option that maintains the worker's income beyond statutory benefits, according to the chosen formula.

When? — the moment

The law covers work… and nothing else

Statutory cover only applies during work and on the commute. The rest of the time — private life — is not covered, unless you add the option.

24/7 personal accident

Extends protection to accidents outside the work context (private life): cover becomes continuous, 24/7, at work and beyond.

Our difference

An independent broker: we work for you, not for an insurer

We don't sell a single insurer's contract. We consult several insurers, compare rates and conditions, and position you against the market. The goal: the best cover at the right price, not the first quote that comes along.

01

Real competition

We approach the insurers relevant to your activity and compare rates, ceilings and services. You see where you stand.

02

Fast without cutting corners

We don't settle for a single quote, but we don't wait for every insurer either: you get the results as soon as they're solid.

03

One contact, over time

Subscription, annual salary adjustment, claims handling: we remain your single point of contact, year after year.

A legal obligation

Workplace accident insurance is compulsory from your first employee

The Act of 10 April 1971 requires every employer — self-employed with staff, company or non-profit — to insure their workers against accidents at work. Important: registration with the ONSS/RSZ does not cover this risk. It is a separate contract, also called "assurance loi". Here is how the control works, plainly.

Frequently asked questions

You're probably wondering about these

Is it really compulsory?

Yes, from the first employee. The Act of 10 April 1971 requires every employer to insure their staff against accidents at work, from the first day of employment. ONSS/RSZ registration does not cover this risk — it is a separate policy, the "assurance loi".

From how many employees?

From just one. The obligation exists for each staff member, whatever the contract: full-time, part-time, student.

What if I'm not insured?

Controls are automated: a warning letter quickly follows a lack of cover, then Fedris proceeds with a compulsory affiliation. The contribution claimed is not a premium but a penalty, based on the duration of non-insurance and the number of workers. In the event of an uninsured accident, the employer may also have to compensate the victim themselves.

How much does it cost?

The premium is a rate applied to the gross annual payroll, capped at €58,096.10 per worker (2026). The rate depends on the activity and category: higher for manual workers than office staff, because the risk differs. That's exactly why we compare several insurers — rates vary significantly.

How quickly do I get a quote?

For simple trades, first quotes within 24 business hours. For more complex files, usually within the week — 48h if you tick "urgent". We compare before sending, to position you against the market.

Can I be covered before hiring?

Cover can take effect at the earliest the day after the request for cover — not retroactively. State your desired start date and tick "urgent": we prioritise the file so cover starts in time.

Does it cover the commute?

Yes. It covers accidents at work as well as on the way to and from work (home ↔ workplace).

Self-employed or a director without staff?

Statutory cover concerns your employees — not you. To protect your own income after an accident or illness, other solutions exist.
